The winter break gives everyone a chance to rest and reflect. That's exactly what Philippe Clement will be doing just now.
After a hectic schedule since taking over in October, he'll take a few days away from the training ground for a little bit of time with the family.
But he will not be able to completely switch off. His phone will be on and he'll be in constant dialogue with the club's hierarchy and his staff.
January is an important month as it lays the foundations for the rest of the season.
Philippe has already brought in striker Fabio Silva on loan and he'll look to add two or three more, if possible.
When signing players you need a blend of good ability and strong mentality. It's important to have that combination when you play for Rangers.
There is enormous pressure to deliver success and every individual needs to be able to cope with such high demands on a daily basis.
The ability to cope, and thrive, under that kind of pressure is every bit as important as anything else. That's why ability alone is not enough.
Philippe is well aware of that and that's why only a certain type of footballer can play for Rangers and help to deliver success.
With new arrivals on the horizon, I would also expect two or three to move on to make sure the squad stays at a manageable number.
Overall, for Rangers supporters, there is plenty to be optimistic about between now and the end of May.
I think Philippe has settled very well and has delivered silverware and a place in the knockout stages of the Europa League.
His report card for the opening three months of his tenure is impressive.
We are also right back in the race to win the SPFL Premiership and it's in our own hands.
I thought everyone at the football club showed terrific character to beat Kilmarnock on Tuesday afternoon.
It was important to bounce back after the Old Firm defeat with a strong performance against Killie, managed by my former team-mate, Derek McInnes.
The players are now having a deserved break before they meet up next week for the winter training camp in Spain.
Everyone will return looking to make this an even more successful season. I've a positive feeling it can be done.
